Seven of the top human resource associations of South Florida join forces for a powerful June program!

ASTD Miami and South Florida’s network of human resources associations have joined forces to present a robust and powerful professional program this June.  The program supports local professionals in creating programs that would center on how to lead organizations back to working with each other during these stressful economic times which most organizations are facing.

Leading with HeaRt; How to incorporate who you are into what you do

Kevin A. Henry, Chief Human Resources Officer for Coca-Cola Bottling Company Consolidated will be the keynote speaker at the upcoming June GMSHRM Event: “Leading with HeaRt; How to incorporate who you are into what you do.” During this session, attendees will gain insights on how to lead others through applying the concepts of servant leadership and stewardship while understanding and fulfilling personal purpose in the process. Additional perspective will be shared regarding HR's role as a cultural steward and how to instill and maintain optimism during these very challenging social and economic times.

Besides our keynote speaker, the program will also include three concurrent workshops and a networking reception with hors d'eorves and cash bar.

Concurrent Sessions:

Building Leadership Capacity to Maintain Strength During Uncertain Times

Presenter: Dr. Mike Woodward
Building Leadership Capacity to Maintain Strength During Uncertain Times: As we navigate these very challenging times one of the keys to surviving, and potentially thriving on the backend, is strong leadership. It is the role of HR practitioners to help facilitate the communication between executives and their director/management teams. Building leadership capacity isn't just about developing competencies, it's about building self-awareness and having conversations.

Crunch, hunch and punch: surviving the downturn and coming out on top

Presenter:  Luis Fuster
Call it “trickle down, trickle up or trickle over,” the current credit crunch has affected nearly everyone and nearly every business across the globe.  Some businesses see this downturn as a pit of despair for which there is little hope of a turnaround in the near future.  For those companies, they might see their only hope for survival in the form of layoffs and job elimination.  This, however, is a time of opportunity.  This is a time when a hunch, a good idea, a gut feeling, can turn into prosperity.  This is a time when companies need their best and brightest actively engaged in redefining the business model for the future that awaits us all. There are choices beyond layoffs.  Creative solutions are out there.

Helping clients outdo themselves with creative alternatives

Presenter: Dr. Charles Prather
Come, experience and learn how to help your clients more easily think “out-of-the-box” as they develop creative solutions in your coaching conversations. In this fun and challenging session you will gain first-hand experience using creative thinking techniques. Helping you work with people as the creative and whole person that they are by asking powerful questions from a new perspective. Using these tools & techniques of creative problem-solving will enable you to be engaged and powerful in questioning conversations with your clients.
